Freeze-dried beef liver dog treats, one ingredient
Our freeze-dried beef liver dog treats are raw liver from a Pennsylvania farm, freeze-dried in small batches in Malvern and never cooked.

What the label says
The back of every bag carries the same panel, whichever size you buy. Ingredient: beef liver.
As printed on the package label:
- Crude Protein (min) 62%
- Crude Fat (min) 5%
- Crude Fiber (max) 9%
- Moisture (max) 10%
- Calorie content (calculated): 2,879 kcal ME/kg, 81.6 kcal ME/oz
The feeding directions call it a treat, reward or topper, meant for intermittent or supplemental feeding and not as a complete and balanced diet. Keep fresh water out and supervise while your dog eats. The label also asks you to wash your hands after handling, which is good kitchen sense with any meat.
Treats in general should stay a small slice of the day's calories. Our guide to how much liver a dog can eat shows the arithmetic, and your veterinarian can give you the calorie target for your own dog.

How the pieces handle
The pieces arrive medium sized and irregular, since liver does not dry into neat cubes. Press one between your thumb and finger and it breaks along its grain into smaller bits. A single chunk can cover a whole short training session.
The crunch is moderate rather than hard. Your fingers stay clean after handing one out, so a few loose pieces in a pocket are no problem between walks.
For training ideas, see liver as a high value training treat.
Which size to order
1.5 ounces is the trial bag. Order it if you have never fed liver before, or if your dog is small enough that a bag lasts weeks.
3 ounces is the middle size. It fits in a treat pouch and covers daily walks for one dog.
6 ounces is for heavy use: daily training, a dog sport, or a house with more than one dog. Once a bag is open, plan to use it within 30 days, so pick the size you will finish in that window.
Need more than that? The Beef Liver 3-Pack puts three same-size bags in one order. Every option sits side by side on the shop page.
Where it comes from
The beef liver comes from a farm in Pennsylvania. We freeze-dry it ourselves in small batches in Malvern. The liver is never cooked. Freeze-drying takes the water out without heat doing the work, which is why the pieces weigh so little for their size. If you want the longer version of how drying methods compare, read raw, cooked or freeze-dried liver.
Each bag is printed with a best-by date one year from its production date.

Beef heart is denser than liver and smells less. Sardines are small whole fish, dried with the bones in.

Questions about this bag
How should I store an open bag of freeze-dried beef liver?
Squeeze the air out, close the zip and keep it in a cool, dry cupboard. No fridge is needed. Use an opened bag within 30 days.
How do I make the pieces smaller for training?
Break them with your fingers rather than a knife. Liver splits easily, and you can keep going until the bits match the size of your dog's mouth. The crumbs at the bottom can go over a meal.
Can I crumble it onto my dog's food?
Yes. The label lists it as a topper as well as a treat. Count it toward the day's treat allowance rather than adding it on top.
Is it the same liver in the 1.5, 3 and 6 ounce bags?
Yes. Every size holds the same liver, made the same way, with the same back label and carries the same back label. Only the amount changes.
How do recurring orders work?
In the buy box on this page, one-time purchase is selected by default. Switch to Subscribe and Save and pick a schedule if you want the bag to repeat. You manage or cancel it later from your Sniff and Shift account; the subscription page has the details. Nothing is set to repeat unless you choose it.
