What each brand's page says
Stewart Pro-Treat
The Stewart single ingredient page lists the beef liver variety as pure beef liver and prints a guaranteed analysis with a calorie line of 114 kcal ME per ounce. It also gives a feeding table by dog weight, counted in treats. The page lists tub and pouch sizes but shows no prices. The pouch pictured on the page is printed "Freeze-Dried in the USA".
PureBites
The PureBites beef liver page describes a single ingredient, freeze dried beef liver, and says it is made in the USA from liver sourced in the USA. It lists six bag sizes from 2 to 44 ounces, a calorie line of 3,613 kcal per kilogram, and an average of 5 calories per treat. One size, 11 ounces, showed as sold out when we read it.
Vital Essentials
The Vital Essentials beef liver page lists beef liver as the ingredient, three sizes from 2.1 to 15 ounces, and a calorie line of 3,590 kcal ME per kilogram and 3 kcal per piece. It carries the line "Proudly American Crafted". The 2.1 ounce bag showed as out of stock online when we read it.
How ours differs
Where it comes from. We name the state the beef comes from and the town where it is freeze-dried: a Pennsylvania farm, and our own small batches in Malvern, Pennsylvania. The other three pages describe origin at the country level, in the words quoted in the table.
Price per ounce. Ours costs more per ounce than any listed size from the other brands here. Our lowest price per ounce is the 3-Pack of 6 ounce bags, followed by the single 6 ounce bag. The other brands also sell much bigger bags than our largest single bag.
The label numbers. Our label lists the highest moisture maximum of the four (10 percent) and, by our arithmetic from each printed calorie line, the fewest calories per ounce. Protein minimums run from 50 to 65 percent across the four labels, with ours at 62.
What stays the same. Every bag here lists beef liver as its only ingredient. Liver of any brand is rich, so the same treat budget applies: VCA Animal Hospitals keeps all treats under 10 percent of daily calories, and our portion guide does the arithmetic.
If you want a way to judge any bag on the shelf, including ones not listed here, use our label checklist for liver treats.
Our two lowest prices per ounce
The 6 ounce bag, and three of them in the 3-Pack.
Both hold the same Pennsylvania farm beef liver, freeze-dried in small batches in Malvern. Every size and set is on the shop page.
Comparison questions
Which bag size costs the least per ounce?
Among the sizes listed on October 15, 2026, the PureBites 44 ounce bag had the lowest price per ounce. Of our own options, the 3-Pack of 6 ounce bags is the lowest, then the single 6 ounce bag.
Why do calories per ounce differ between brands?
Each label prints its own protein, fat and moisture figures, and the calorie line changes with them. Compare the printed calorie line directly instead of working it out from the protein number.
Does "single ingredient" mean the same thing on every bag?
On these four pages, it does: each lists beef liver alone. For any other bag, read the ingredient line on the back rather than the front.
Where is each brand's liver made?
Ours is freeze-dried in Malvern, Pennsylvania, from Pennsylvania farm beef. PureBites says made in the USA from American sourced liver. The Stewart pouch pictured on its product page reads "Freeze-Dried in the USA", and the Vital Essentials page carries the line "Proudly American Crafted".
How current is this table?
Every figure for another brand carries the date we read it, October 15, 2026. Brands change prices and labels, so the brand's own page is the one to trust if it disagrees with ours.
